With more than 25 years of experience, the De Palm Tours’ Destination Management Services, the DMS division, supports corporate clients by designing and executing unique and unforgettable group programs and events.
Responsibilities
This position will be working remotely from the US and is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities for the MICE Market in Aruba (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events). Builds relationship with customers, meeting planners, tourism bureaus, and incentive houses. Evaluates existing partnerships and sales efforts with the goal to grow the DMS business and improve profitability. Manages key client relationships and works to build new ones. Conducts site visits, attends trade shows, visits clients and meets with clients locally and on-site in Aruba, as necessary. This position will be required to travel, at least 25% of the time.
Key qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business or Events
- At least 4 years of hospitality industry/tourism/incentive travel experience
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Exceptional time management and organization
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office
- Able to speak and write English and Spanish proficiently
- Be flexible in working hours an days (including holidays, weekends and evenings)
- Solid understanding of full scope of DMC services
Some typical duties will include but are not limited to
- Establish the department and the company as the main provider of services for International Groups
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with our tourism partners including the ATA (Aruba Meeting and Convention Bureau), AHATA, Hotels and other partners
- Develop, maintain and improve business relationships with Incentive Houses
- Develop tools and sales strategies to assist them to improve their sales performance and services to our clients
- Develop a Sales & Marketing strategy for North America and work with 3rd party partners in other markets such as Latin America and Europe
- Develop and improve business relationships and agreements with old and new internal and external suppliers
- Focus on sales and develop strategies to continue improve the sales performance and achievement of Financial Goals
- Partner with on-island operations leadership to select, train, develop and motivate a competent staff to ensure the continued provision of high quality services
- Maintain policies and procedures to ensure that employee activities are in compliance with all organizational policies and standards

- Increase departmental profitability by modifying and/or creating processes that will increase gross sales and reduce departmental expense
